Harleston Parker Medal Awarded to Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

The Harleston Parker Medal was established in 1921 by J. Harleston Parker to recognize “the most beautiful piece of architecture, building, monument or structure within the limits of the City of Boston or of the Metropolitan Parks District” and is awarded annually in a juried selection by the Boston Society of Architects. The 2015 Harleston Parker Medal was awarded to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Addition by Renzo Piano Building Workshop and Stantec. L+A Landscape Architecture designed the gardens of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Addition.

City Walk Providence received the Honor Award for Planning and Analysis. Kiruna (Sweden) City Hall Square (above) received the Honor Award for “On the Boards.” Ron Henderson’s book, The Gardens of Suzhou, received the Special Recognition Award which is reserved for “a single project that recognizes outstanding professional accomplishment and stands alone from the other entries in its attributions.”

European Prize for Public Space

The Memorial de l’abolition de l’esclavage (Memorial to the Abolition of Slavery) in Nantes (France) has been awarded Honorable Mention in the annual European Prize for Urban Public Space. L+A was collaborating landscape architect with the artist Krzysztof Wodiczko and the architect Julian Bonder, designers of the riverfront memorial and promenade.
